The Catholic community at UMass Lowell seeks to grow in greater knowledge and love of God, self and others. Our liturgies and programs invite participants to actively seek out answers to questions about the faith and deepen their understanding of Christ’s teachings and how they relate to one’s life in the world and with one another.Through reflection and integration of our faith and life experiences in pursuit of wisdom and Truth, we desire to find God in all things. In doing this we build a personal relationship with God and come to life’s meaning and joy that finds its fulfillment in relationship with Jesus Christ, the Truth and Wisdom of God, present in the Eucharist. It is especially in the celebration of the Eucharist, the source and summit of our lives, that we find our unity and the connection of loving Christ and one another.

Berna has served as a full-time campus minister at UMass Lowell since Spring 2008. She received her B.A. in Philosophy from the State University of New York at Buffalo; M.A in Music/Ethnomusicology from the State University of New York at Binghamton, M.A. in Theology/Religious Studies from Providence College, M. Divinity (equiv.) from the School of Theology and Ministry (STM) at Boston College and most recently a LIcentiate in Sacred Theology (STL) from the STM in 2014. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Patristics (Church Fathers). She has previous ministerial experience in campus ministry and in a parish. Berna has also been an adjunct faculty member in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences at UMass Lowell and continues to be a guest lecturer every semester in Patristic classes at Boston College.
